According to Ramayana, When did Lord Ram meet Hanuman for the first time?
This means Hanuman, the son of the wind god, abandoned his monkey form and assumed the appearance of a saint. His initial goal was to stay undercover due to his fear of Vaali. But when Hanuman finally stood before Rama, something unexpected happenedโhe immediately bowed down and introduced himself, saying, “Iโm Hanuman!”
This sudden honesty might seem puzzling since Hanuman had planned not to reveal who he was. So, what caused this change? Thereโs a deeper meaning, explained by this verse:
and thats how Lord Ram meet Hanuman for the first time.
This verse teaches that seeing the Lord face to face cleanses all sins immediately. It’s our sins that often prevent us from being completely honest. But once those sins are washed away, honesty and sincerity naturally follow. In Hanuman’s case, the moment he saw Rama, all his sins were washed away, leading him to reveal his true identity without hesitation.
Another reason for Hanuman’s immediate honesty is tied to a blessing he received as a child. Lord Brahma had granted him “Brahma-Gnyaana,” the ultimate knowledge to recognize the divine. Brahma had told Hanuman that when he met someone who caused his body to melt with devotion and his eyes to fill with tears of joy, he would know that person was divine. When Hanuman saw Rama, he recognized him as the supreme divine figure and, overwhelmed with love and devotion, revealed his true self.
Hanuman then addressed Rama and Lakshmana, saying, “Iโm Hanuman, the minister of the Vaanara king Sugriva. Weโre hiding here on this mountain because we fear Vaali, Sugrivaโs brother. You both seem like noble princes from a great kingdom. Why are you wandering through this dense forest? Who are you searching for? Your appearance, the way you carry yourself, and the way you hold your bow all suggest that you are mighty warriors. Please, tell me who you are!”
Hanuman continued speaking for about fifteen minutes, while Rama and Lakshmana listened attentively. Rama, especially, demonstrated an important lesson: always allow someone to finish speaking without interrupting. This is a key quality of a good leader.
After realizing he had spoken for so long, Hanuman thought to himself, “Why am I saying so much to these strangers? I should be quiet now and let them speak.” With that, he decided to stay silent and listen to what Rama and Lakshmana had to say.
